and said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken his steadfast love and his faithfulness toward my master. As for me, the Lord has led me in the way to the house of my master's kinsmen."
Now then, if you are going to show steadfast love and faithfulness to my master, tell me; and if not, tell me, that I may turn to the right hand or to the left."
Then Isaac brought her into the tent of Sarah his mother and took Rebekah, and she became his wife, and he loved her. So Isaac was comforted after his mother's death.
Isaac loved Esau because he ate of his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.
and prepare for me delicious food, such as I love, and bring it to me so that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die."
Go to the flock and bring me two good young goats, so that I may prepare from them delicious food for your father, such as he loves.
So he went and took them and brought them to his mother, and his mother prepared delicious food, such as his father loved.
Jacob loved Rachel. And he said, "I will serve you seven years for your younger daughter Rachel."
So Jacob served seven years for Rachel, and they seemed to him but a few days because of the love he had for her.
So Jacob went in to Rachel also, and he loved Rachel more than Leah, and served Laban for another seven years.
And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben, for she said, "Because the Lord has looked upon my affliction; for now my husband will love me."
I am not worthy of the least of all the deeds of steadfast love and all the faithfulness that you have shown to your servant, for with only my staff I crossed this Jordan, and now I have become two camps.
And his soul was drawn to Dinah the daughter of Jacob. He loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her.
Now Israel loved Joseph more than any other of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors.
But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.
But the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
And we said to my lord, 'We have a father, an old man, and a young brother, the child of his old age. His brother is dead, and he alone is left of his mother's children, and his father loves him.'
