ABIEL [A bih ell] (my God is father) — the name of two Old Testament men:

1. An ancestor of Saul, the first king of Israel (1 Sam. 9:1; 14:51).

2. An Arbathite, one of David's mighty men (1 Chr. 11:32), also called Abi Albon (2 Sam. 23:31).
