“abiram” in Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary

ABIRAM [ah BY ram] (my father is exalted) — the name of two people in the Old Testament:

1. A son of Eliab, a Reubenite, who joined in the rebellion of KORAH and conspired against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. He died in an earthquake, which served as a fitting judgment for his sin (Num. 16:1–33).

2. The firstborn of Hiel, who rebuilt the city of Jericho (1 Kin. 16:34).
