“abijam” in Nelson's New Illustrated Bible Dictionary
ABIJAM [a BUY jam] (the sea is my father) — a king of Judah and son of Rehoboam and Maacah the daughter of Absalom. When King Rehoboam died, Abijam succeeded to Judah's throne. He had 14 wives, 22 sons, and 16 daughters. When he died, after reigning for three years, his son ASA became king (1 Kin. 14:31). He is also called Abijah (2 Chr. 11:20, 22). The KJV has Abia (Matt. 1:7), listing him as an ancestor of Jesus.
