This should not be confused with the human establishment of the various religions in the world. The intent of the verse was to point out that the goodness of faith in Christ is what should be driving the good works of the world.
We now rely on government aid and welfare systems to take care of those who are in need of basic human needs. That is supposed to be the role of true religion. Allowing any other entity to take that responsibility robs God of the glory and places trust in something man-made, rather than in the Lord God.
