Psalms 127:1-2
Psalm 127
A song of ascents. Of Solomon.
1Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. Bonhoeffer refers to this verse in his book Life Together. An important concept to glean from this passage is the nature of the work we are engaging in, and the foundation upon which that work is built. In reference to another bookmark found in Mark 1:35 regarding spiritual discipline, one must ensure that the rising early, and other actions we consider important, is ultimately rooted in the work of the chief cornerstone Christ. Otherwise, all our work, as the verse says, is for naught.
