13Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self–controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. People in Peter's day wore long flowing robes which hindered free movement. Before anyone did anything strenuous, he would lift up the hem of his robe and tuck it into his belt. Then he would be "girded up" for action!
