Why do we get so confused about suffering in our lives? "If we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering." (Romans 8:17) Or again..."Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you..." (1 Peter 4:12)
Christ said "In this world you will have trouble, but take heart!" (John 16:33) He promises to see us through troubles and heartache and pain, not to take it away. Selfishness and laziness hide behind the modern christians who look for and teach a gospel that is easy and pain free. There is nothing wrong with money or success or happiness, but if you think God is going to simply make your life easier with little or no effort on your part, you are in for a rude awakening. God is looking for courageous and hard working christians who serve others without any selfish motives. They will certainly face many trials, toils and snares, but Christ will reign victoriously through them all!
