9To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: Jesus was concerned with the self-righteous. I wonder how often tax collectors came asking God for mercy? When he told this story, were those who listened laughing at the thought of a tax collector even going to the temple?
