Romans 8:1
Chapter 8
Life Through the Spirit
1Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,Some later manuscripts Jesus, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit, It isn't that the sin of our life is not bad and not to be repented for, it is that it can be in our lives and we can still, now, have access to the holy heavenly father BECAUSE of the price that has been paid for us. (Don't forget to read the previous paragraph for context!)

Romans 7:25
25Thanks be to God–through Jesus Christ our Lord!So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God's law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Here is the expression of the struggle that sets up the context for the verse that follows. This is Under preached. This is often attacked and rarely appreciated. (note: I hate that there is a chapter break here. Because these verses are so importantly connected to the next verse.... Go ahead, Read it....)

Romans 7:22-23
22For in my inner being I delight in God's law;
22For in my inner being I delight in God's law;
It is so nice that Paul writes so honestly here. This is "so missing" from the idealism that is often pursued or preached today.

Romans 7:19
19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing.
19For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing.
Reminds me of the quote, "All that I condemn in others, I am."
There is an impossible predicament that we all, as Christians, struggle with.

Romans 7:16-18
16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.
So our nature becomes separate from our actions. I wonder how. I am not quite sure I understand Paul here. I could parrot what he is saying, but I don't quite understand it

Romans 7:13
13Did that which is good, then, become death to me? By no means! But in order that sin might be recognized as sin, it produced death in me through what was good, so that through the commandment sin might become utterly sinful.

the law proves sin is bad. Our awareness of it, on one hand, entices us, and on the other hand, destroys us.
It is God's will, because it returns us to a place where we become aware of our need to be utterly dependent upon God

Romans 7:11
11For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death.

It is interesting how, one of the main points of a recent atheistic movement is how the knowledge of sin is repressive force that entangles us. It is amazing how Paul Agrees with them. But his conclusion is even more en-vitalizing for us. See vrs 13

Romans 7:9
9Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died.

reminds me of the story that told that in some american indian tribes there was no word for betrayal or jealousy... they didn't know what it was.... ?I probably have the words mixed up- but the point is relevant no matter what the word is...
