It is God's LOVE that keeps us. John 17:23 says God loves us as He loves Jesus! No wonder nothing can separate us from Him - His Love CANNOT let anything take us from Him!
God's love will not even let us fall away from Him. Even if we are "dwelling on the past," that "dwelling" is in the present, and nothing can take us away from God's Love! His Love PURSUES His own (Christians). He will go to the end of the universe to get you, or to bring you back to Him! (See Jeremiah 31:3 and note.)
