It is easy to pass over verses such as this one without a second thought. Doing so, however, causes us to have an incomplete picture of Scripture. One which fails to understand the challenges of those who came before us, and sees God as always instantly removing them from hardship. In this verse we see that Paul, an adventurer, traveler, and speaker, is isolated and locked down for two years! We can be sure Paul would have much preferred his freedom to these bars.
