Matthew 8:9-10
9For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”
This is authority as it is meant to be obeyed. God's authority should be obeyed unquestioned, with complete trust and faith that He knows best.

Romans 13:1-3
Chapter 13
Submission to the Authorities
1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.
God really cares about the concept of authority. If you really believe God's ultimate power over the dealings of mankind on the earth, you will understand this first verse. If God puts authorities in place, and if Pharaoh (as an example) was as a toy thing in God's hand to accomplish His purposes, it becomes evident that God wants us to obey the authorities He has placed over us. He allows them to set up trivial rules for us - sometimes I think this is just a test for us in our submission to authority as a whole. What about not eating fruit from one of the trees in the Garden of Eden? That was definitely the most trivial and pointless rules of all I could compare to! EVERYTHING Adam and Eve knew was GOOD, why would this fruit be bad? The only reason God had this rule was so that in keeping it Adam and Eve demonstrated their continued submission to His Authority. (It's obvious that once an authority asks us to do something directly contrary to God's Word, we know Who is the higher authority and Who we should obey.) Prov. 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Trusting God would have saved Eve from following her own understanding and eating the fruit. Leaning on our own understanding is precisely the enemy of trivial laws, of God and of government.

1 Peter 2:13-15
Submission to Rulers and Masters
13Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority,

Obeying trivial laws is exactly what will silence the ignorance of foolish people because it shows so plainly that we are obeying authority, not leaning our own understanding. Prov. 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding." Trusting God would have saved Eve from following her own understanding and eating the fruit. Leaning on our own understanding is precisely the enemy of trivial laws, of God and of government.

Romans 1:17
17For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,Or is from faith to faith just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”Hab. 2:4
It is by FAITH that the righteous live... Aside from saving faith giving us eternal life, Faith in what God has judged to be right and wrong gives us true life here on earth. "He will keep us in perfect peace, whose minds are stayed on Him, who trusts fully in Him." Faith will keep us doing right even when all other facts point the other way, and it is God's pleasure to bring us through this to blessing.

1 John 5:1-3
Chapter 5
Faith in the Son of God
1Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.
Christians love one another and they love Christ, the Son of God. This verse says that this is how we know that we love God's children: that we love God and obey Him.
