Is this passage focusing on preventing people from terminating their marriages for frivolous reasons or is this instruction truly intended to condemn those who divorce and remarry? These are serious words to consider.

This point seems to be totally lost on 21st century Americans. God created one man and one woman to be together. The marriage relationship is both a physical and spiritual relationship because God joins those two people together. What a great reminder of how important and sacred my relationship with my wife is. This is also one more verse that shows how homosexual acts are outside of God's will for his people.

Divorce
31“It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’Deut. 24:1 There is controversy among Christians about whether sexual immorality is truly the only allowable reason for divorce. This verse seems obvious, but what about spouses that are abusive or totally neglect their family? I can't imagine telling a woman that she must stay in a situation where her husband beats her. The answer that Jesus gives is definitely from the perspective of a man. Does that have any bearing on leaving out abuse as a reason for divorce?
