1 Corinthians 12:3
3Therefore I tell you that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
It doesn't seem that Paul means that no one can ever mouth the phrase "Jesus is Lord" without speaking in the Holy Spirit or that anyone who can say the words "Jesus be cursed" is necessarily of the devil; rather, he means that no one can emphatically declare or truthfully proclaim Jesus's lordship apart from sharing in the Holy Spirit's ministry. Likewise, no one can emphatically deny or falsely proclaim the testimony of Jesus unless they are devoid of the Holy Spirit. One exception to this that we can see is Apollos, who was ignorant of the baptism of Jesus into the Holy Spirit, though he was 'fervent in the Spirit' himself (Acts 18:24-28). But there are many who will call Jesus 'Lord, Lord' who do not know Him nor are they 'known' by Him. We will know them by the corrupt fruit of their lives and ministry (Matthew 7:21-23). In contrast, the fruit of the Holy Spirit's prophetic ministry is the testimony of Christ Jesus (see Revelation 19:10). It always has been! Therefore no prophetic utterance, supernatural tongue, or interpretation of prophecy that centers upon something other than Christ can be truly said to be 'of the Spirit'. When we are moved by the Spirit of God to speak, we will undoubtedly declare the excellencies of Jesus Christ and the salvation that is in Him alone (see also 1 Peter 2:9-12).
