Christ explains that he is the same Lord of the Old Testament. "I AM" is the same identification given to Moses in the Old Testament. Christ also uses the same ID here in the NT. The Jews, who did not believe he was the same God of the OT wanted to kill Him for they saw it as blasphemy.
