Romans 2:16
16This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
Okay, These kinds of verses make me feel like I don't get a free pass to get into heaven....just by trusing in jesus' sacrifice....perhaps the sacrifice gets us into heaven, but our reward depends on our works???

Romans 2:3
3So when you, a mere man, pass judgment on them and yet do the same things, do you think you will escape God's judgment?
Hah, Okay, I am no longer annoyed with paul (see bookmarks for the end of chapter 1). He set up all the haughty holier than thow knuckle heads. All that I condemn in others, I am. Oh, we must tread carefully. I am sooooooo excited about these verses. He whipped people up about sin, then slapped them in the face with their own sin. This is not to condemn, but to humble. I hope people don't ever stop reading Romans after the first chapter!!

Romans 8:8-11
8Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
Let's take another look at the first verse, which is usually used to condemn. But it says that the body is dead because of sin - so all must be "dead." Thus our only chance at life is to accept the spirit of Christ and be raised, as Christ was raised. The Self-righteous will see this as based upon their own righteous actions - and see it with pride. But the humble, my I be counted among them, will see themselves as dead because of sin - seeking the gift (unearned, except by accepting)of the presence of God. Okay, I get it - now, how do I continually do it....

Ecclesiastes 8:6-7
6For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a man's misery weighs heavily upon him.
So, everything has it's time, but it also has it's judgment. I can see why those of us that are wronged and suffer wait for the time of judgment.

Ecclesiastes 3:17
17I thought in my heart,“God will bring to judgmentboth the righteous and the wicked, for there will be a time for every activity,a time for every deed.”
It seems like this passage points to the commonly held belief that if your good works outweigh your bad - then you will get into heaven.
