If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.”
In the face of certain death, the Hebrew boys still had enough integrity to stand their ground. It would have been a simple thing to rationalize or pretend, but they stood their ground and were willing to die instead of dishonor God.
I think we live with an attitude today that says, "well, God will understand. It's no big deal. God will gloss over my indiscretion." That may be a reason we see so few miracles today. Fewer and fewer people are honoring God no matter what.
God, please help me to live a life of integrity and faith. Help me to see things through your eyes and avoid all things that dishonor you.
