Amnon and Tamar
1In the course of time, Amnon son of David fell in love with Tamar, the beautiful sister of Absalom son of David. David's sons Absalom and Amnon are, like their father, unable to control their urges and desires. The punishment for David's sins in chapter 11 continue to be dealt. Amnon's friend, Jonadab came up with a plan to help Amnon have sex with Tamar, his stepsister. Amnon pretended to be sick and requested that his sister be sent to his room with food. Amnon asked his sister first, "Come, lie with me, my sister". But when she refused, he forced her. Afterwards, Amnon tells her, "Arise, be gone". This tells us that his only desire for her was due to lust. He had no desire to marry her like she suggested (v.13). Absalom plotted against his brother, getting him drunk, then having his servants murder him. After doing this, Absalom fled to Geshur, where his grandfather was the king.
