1 John 1:9
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
We all sin. We all sin often. In order to continue a relationship with the Father, we are continually in need of correction and pardon.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9 MKJV)
We beat ourselves up over our sin. We sin and seek forgiveness. Then, after God has forgiven us, we personally dredge the guilt of them back up; when the truth of it is – He is faithful and just to forgive us! When He forgives, He cleanses us from all that keeps us from Him – from all unrighteousness. Then we have communion with Him again.
And to cleanse us from all unrighteousness - By forgiving all that is past, treating us as if we were righteous, and ultimately by removing all the stains of guilt from the soul. (Albert Barnes Notes on the Bible)
