Genesis 39:21
21the LORD was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
To say that Joseph had a great call would be an understatement. God used him to save jealous brothers, a dreaming king, and a host of starving citizens. To say that he was a quiet boy would be a lie. He told his dreams to a hard-hearted family, told his boss' wife he wasn't interested, and told underlying meanings to vision-carrying-prisoners. To say that despite everything he was never alone would hit the nail right on the head. Throughout the story of Joseph, a phrase follows him wherever he goes. From the pit to Potiphar's house, from prison to the palace; one phrase causes me to smile whenever I can only frown. 'The Lord was with Joseph.' Amazing! Yes, he was in a dark, dirty pit, but Jehovah was with Joseph! Yes he was miles away from family in the house of his Boss' cheating wife, but the Lord was with Joseph! Yes, he was thrown into prison, but alas, the Lord was with Joseph! It matters not where we are; it matters Who is with us. Wherever you are today, whether it is in a prison of depression or a snake pit of a job, smile through the tears: Jehovah the all mighty, all powerful, all wise, all knowing, water walking God is with you!
