John 15:9-12
9“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

v. 9: That's a lot of Love! Jesus loves us as God loves Him! John 17:23 says that the Father loves us as He loves Jesus as well! WOW.
And he says to "Remain in my love." With such great love, it is a great sin to leave it, to go to another love, it is idolatry.
/// v.10: Jesus not only says, "Remain in my love," but He gives us the way to remain in His love!
/// v.11: And here is an expression of His love! He says the reason He wants us to remain in His love is because He wants my joy to be full! His Love is a selfless Love!
/// v.11: Jesus goes on to say that we should love each other as He loved us, and how is that? The previous verses say that He loves us as the Father loves Him! And the next verse said that the reason we need to remain in His love was for our own joy -- God's love is a selfless love! Our love for one another needs to be a completely selfless love so strong as to be willing to give our life for another!

Chapter 3
1How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. This looks like it was written with INTENSITY! "Look at what kind of Love God's given to us! He calls us His own children! He's even giving us something in the future beyond what we know -- because He said that 'we shall see Him as He is'!
