John 1:12-13
12Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God–
Receiving also involves the will. Receiving is also a definite act! You can believe in God but you also receive Him!...notice that the words "received" and "believed" are used interchangeably in this verse. The one who believes in Jesus Christ is the one who receives Him as Saviour. If he does not realize his sinful condition and therefore, does not receive Jesus Christ as his Saviour, the person, does not believe as Scripture defines belief. Notice in verse 13, that salvation does not come through the will of the flesh! example:"the golden rule", religious activity, membership.
