The Word Became Flesh
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Jesus and God are two (the Word was "WITH" God) yet One (the Word "WAS" God; they are separate (emphasized by verse 2) but equal (the Word "WAS" God);something happens (see John 1:14) to the Word that changes Him from being God, as suggested by the past indicative "was".
My takeaway: God Himself came to save me.
