Lamentations 3
Chapter 3
This chapter is an acrostic poem; the verses of each stanza begin with the successive letters of the Hebrew alphabet, and the verses within each stanza begin with the same letter.1I am the man who has seen afflictionby the rod of his wrath.
This chapter in the bible is difficult to read and so much more to experience in life. Upon reading the first 19 verses, the real sorrow and pain is described. It is just how I have felt through divorce and my kids pain of losing their family. Then verse 21 says, "This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope." How can this be, after all the other stuff listed in the beginning of the chapter, how then can one's focus switch to Hope? After experiencing dark places, prayers being shut out and knowing the depths of the pit of sorrow and pain, HOPE? Yes, absolutely, not hope as the world knows and sees it, but Hope as God gives it. Don't listen to emotions and feelings, they lie, this truth doesn't lie! There is absolutely Hope. Fix your eyes upon the God of Hope and wait on Him. He knows your oppression well and says, "Do not fear" (vs 57). Listen...He is speaking to you, His precious child.

Colossians 2:5
5For though I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit and delight to see how orderly you are and how firm your faith in Christ is.
Paul shows here that even though he is absent, his brothers and sisters are in his heart and he is there in spirit, never stopping his prayers for them. He knows they what they are going through because he is invested in their lives. This is how relationships in the church should be. Without condemnation, with love. Helping those that are in need and if so holding them up.
