Psalms 138:2-3
2I will bow down toward your holy templeand will praise your namefor your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all thingsyour name and your word.
2I will bow down toward your holy templeand will praise your namefor your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all thingsyour name and your word.
[NLT] "I will give thanks to your name for your unfailing love and faithfulness, because your promises are backed by all the honor of your name. When I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me the strength I need." God upholds His promises for His honor's sake! He answers prayer by encouraging us with His strength!

James 1:17
17Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

Regarding Michael36022's comment: A positive assertion doesn't imply that the opposite is true. Every good and perfect gift comes from God, but this is not the same as saying every bad and imperfect gift comes from the Devil. Satan can only do what God permits (see the book of Job); he is a fallen created being, not the opposite of God. The Devil does have power to afflict believers, but only if and to the extent that God permits. Sometimes prayer and fasting can remove this affliction; at other times we have to endure it because it helps us to rely on God's Grace (as with Paul and the "Thorn in his flesh/side"). The purpose of all suffering is to develop our faith so that we may be complete, lacking nothing (see James). Remember: there can be no victory if there is no battle! This world isn't our home and we will always have trouble. However, we can have courage because Christ has overcome both the world and the Devil! What a great Gift Jesus is, straight from the Father of lights!

Ezekiel 17:22-24
22”‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain.

When I was baptized, my Pastor had a vision from God. He saw me as a tree that birds rested in and beasts took refuge under. Sounds impressive, but this passage puts it all into perspective...especially when you think of Nebuchadnezzar's dream!

Psalm 20
For the director of music. A psalm of David.
1May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. (v5) "We will sing for joy over your victory, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners . May the LORD fulfill all your petitions"...this battle cry represents my desire for my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
