God's salvation is more than a doctrine or a theology, it is the Person of Jesus Christ. When Simeon saw Jesus as the Holy Spirit promised he would(2:26), he saw God's salvation.

transformed = (lit. or fig.) "metamorphose" change, transfigure. Metamorphose means to change in form or nature. Obviously that nature would be the nature or likeness of Jesus. We are to be conformed into the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29).

Renewed in the spirit. The Greek word used for 'renewed' means to renovate, which means to: make fresh or sound again. The word sound means: free from defect, damage, or decay; whole and in good condition. Amazing!

Renewed in knowledge = New, especially in freshness. Also means to renovate as in Eph. 4:23.
the image of Him = So as to resemble God. Made in the likeness of our Maker.
