Philippians 1:3-6
Thanksgiving and Prayer
3I thank my God every time I remember you.
I have always thought of this verse as a message about personal sanctification - that God has begun a good work in us (justification) and will bring it to completion (sanctification). But reading the context (v.5) makes it clear that Paul is talking about the completion of "partnership in the gospel." The Philippians were partnering with Paul (and Christ) in the gospel by starting new congregations and telling people about Jesus. I am comforted, motivated, and excited as this text reassures me that Christ has started our partnership for this new church and He will bring it to completion to be what He wants it to be.

Psalms 121
Psalm 121
A song of ascents.
1I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from?
he won't let your foot slip. he doesn't sleep. he is the shade at your right hand. God will take care of you.

Mark 5:18-20
18As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon–possessed begged to go with him.
God only asks this man to tell his own experience to his own social network. If we all had a fresh, daily understanding of what God had done for us, it would be the most effective witness possible.

Luke 8:38-39
38The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,
This man wants to come with Jesus and be a groupie (inward focus). But Jesus tells him that he needs to "return home and tell what God has done for you" (outward focus). Jesus has not equipped this man to cast out demons or give Bible studies or preach. He has simply told the man to share his own personal experience (encounter) with God. We can be intentional about the same thing. Am I sharing my experience with others? Am I encouraging others to share their personal experience? Perhaps this method of evangelism is the most powerful, because it reinforces the teller's experience through the telling, and a personal experience is very difficult to argue with.

Luke 8:15
15But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
You prepare the soil as much as you can and go spread the gospel. There is no guarantee that the majority of your work will produce the majority of the crop, but there will be enough seed falling on good soil for a harvest.

Psalms 145:4
4One generation will commend your works to another;they will tell of your mighty acts.
Our natural response to God's provision and amazing grace is to tell someone else. But we need to be sure that we are spending enough time contemplating what God has done for us so that we are able to bring to mind His wonderful greatness. And I think I see the idea of witnessing primarily to acquaintances or neighbors, but the Psalmist is here telling us to pass on the stories to the next generation. How am I building intentional time to tell my daily or weekly testimonies to my son? How am I being intentional about passing a gut understanding of God's grace, love, and power to the next generation through stories of what God has done for me?

Ezekiel 38:23
23And so I will show my greatness and my holiness, and I will make myself known in the sight of many nations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’
God's stated reason for destroying Gog is the same as His stated reason for saving Israel. That His name may be glorified, and that He may show His greatness among the nations. Again, what we're seeing is God's answer to the "great controversy" accusations of Satan.

Revelation 19:6
6Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:“Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
notice that almost all of the biblical worship scenes involve multitudes or great multitudes. God did not intend worshiping communities to be small.

Revelation 19:1
Chapter 19
Hallelujah!
1After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:“Hallelujah!Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,
note that all of the glorious worship in the bible happens in a very large context with multitudes of people (or angels).

Ezekiel 36:22
22“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone.
“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone. I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes. It may seem a bit silly that God needs to vindicate His character. But the great conflict in the universe is between God and Satan specifically about God's character. Some of the wonderful, amazing things God does for us is not for our benefit, but for the benefit of His holiness, His glory, His integrity, and His universal reputation - "for His name's sake"
