Genesis 25:1
Chapter 25
The Death of Abraham
1Abraham tookOr had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah. The Hebrew phrase again took can be interpreted as “had taken.” Keturah: She was not Abraham's second official wife. Instead she was a concubine taken after Sarah's death. (v. 6; 1 Chr. 1:32). As an unofficial wife, Keturah was probably with Abraham for life. Her sons had a status similar to that of Ishmael, Abraham's son by Hagar (ch. 16), but without Ishmael's particular blessing (16:10–16).
