More Than Conquerors 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?36As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God's purpose in history has always been to make a people for Himself, and this purpose was finally realized in Jesus as the 'second Adam', the new man. Those who are in Christ are called to imitate this newness that Jesus Himself authored in his own life and thereby visibly become His people. If we do not take up this call, however, it is only evidence that we have not known Him as He really is. For in calling us to Christ, equipping us with the Word, and enabling us by the Spirit, God has given us all that we need and more to grow up as children of light. It is God's determined and unchanging will that none of His children would perish (see 2 Pet. 3:9) -- His church, hidden in Christ and protected by the Great Shepherd, is to emerge victorious from the sufferings of life and the assaults of Satan. Paul writes all of this to remind the Romans of the great hope laid up for them; for the God who called them to belong to Christ is not only able but dedicated to bringing them to Himself spotless and pure as grown-up brothers and sisters of Jesus (see also Jn. 14:1-4). Amen, LORD, let it be!

God saw from the beginning who was going to be saved. He does not pick and choose, if He did, He would have chosen all of us for He loves us all, for He gave us His Only Begotten Son.

Given that we are in a battle, God made the best move He could ever make and won the war. He sent His Son to live with us and to show us how to live. By doing this and allowing His Son to be sacrificed, He paved the way for a life of freedom for us. All we have to do is believe and strive for the things Christ strives for.

This is my favorite verse... it speaks to the idea that we're not just saved from eternal separation from God, but that we're saved to become more like Christ. Like a watermark on paper, we are becoming an image - even though faint - of the Saviour.

Very clear in Romans 8:29 Our destiny is to grow up like Jesus. Fully conformed to His image, which was placed within us the moment we were born again. It's a staggering though that you and I could be truly transformed into that divine image. It seems almost impossible that we could be like Jesus. But God says we can and in fact the Bible says He has equipped us with everything necessary so we might continue to grow and develop and become conformed into His image. Not only is God able to do this, but it is His will for us. IT IS HIS END-TIME PLAN! But whether or not that divine plan will come to pass in our own lives individual lives is up to us. Our part is simple: to walk pleasing before Him - to think His thoughts, to speak His Words. In other words, walk in His ways.

Verses 28-29 For those, His chosen people, whom He DID choose, He also DID predetermine that they would be born again, conforming them to the image of His Son. In addition to this, those whom He DID regenerate, conforming them to be in the image of His Son, He also extended the liberty of becoming sons of God (1 John 1:13): and to those whom He gave the liberty to become the Sons of God, He also declared to be as they ought to be (on the straight and narrow path for instance); those whom He rendered to be righteous, He also adorned with glory (2 Thessalonians 1:12).
Note: the word “did” means to execute, accomplish, finish, complete.
