Romans 3:23

Righteousness Through Faith
21But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.22This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference,
23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.25God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement,Or as the one who would turn aside his wrath, taking away sin through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished–26he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

27Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith.28For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law.29Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too,30since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith.31Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? Not at all! Rather, we uphold the law.

There is not one person sinless in this world. Not one! We recognize the curse we live under as the world does not. Denying it's sin daily. We must pray for those who live like this "a double curse".

This verse reminds me of when Mary Magdelene committed adultery and the Pharisees wanted her to be punished and God, with the voice of compassion said, "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her" (John 8:3-11). No one came forward, because they knew that they too were guility of sin.

What about Jesus? (see 1 Peter 2:22) What about Mary? Isn't this talking about unbelievers? I think so; he quotes from Psalm 14:1-3, which begins, "The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.'" and then describes them, saying that all of them have sinned.

All men are placed into the same category: sinner. The idea here is that even the most righteous among us still come short of God's standard of righteousness.

We have ALL sinned. There aren't any exceptions. Don't get trapped in the lie that you are perfect and do not need a Savior.

Must guilty man remain under wrath? Is the wound for ever incurable? No; blessed be God, there is another way laid open for us. This is the righteousness of God; righteousness of his ordaining, and providing, and accepting. It is by that faith which has Jesus Christ for its object; an anointed Saviour, so Jesus Christ signifies. Justifying faith respects Christ as a Saviour, in all his three anointed offices, as Prophet, Priest, and King; trusting in him, accepting him, and cleaving to him: in all these, Jews and Gentiles are alike welcome to God through Christ. There is no difference, his righteousness is upon all that believe; not only offered to them, but put upon them as a crown, as a robe. It is free grace, mere mercy; there is nothing in us to deserve such favours. It comes freely unto us, but Christ bought it, and paid the price. And faith has special regard to the blood of Christ, as that which made the atonement. God, in all this, declares his righteousness. It is plain that he hates sin, when nothing less than the blood of Christ would satisfy for it. And it would not agree with his justice to demand the debt, when the Surety has paid it, and he has accepted that payment in full satisfaction.
