Romans 3:10

No One is Righteous
9What shall we conclude then? Are we any betterOr worse? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin.
10As it is written:
“There is no one righteous, not even one;
11there is no one who understands,
no one who seeks God.

12All have turned away,
they have together become worthless;
there is no one who does good,
not even one.”Psalms 14:1-3; 53:1-3; Eccles. 7:20

13“Their throats are open graves;
their tongues practice deceit.”Psalm 5:9
“The poison of vipers is on their lips.”Psalm 140:3

14“Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”Psalm 10:7

15“Their feet are swift to shed blood;

16ruin and misery mark their ways,

17and the way of peace they do not know.”Isaiah 59:7,8

18“There is no fear of God before their eyes.”Psalm 36:1

19Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.20Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

I love verses like this. It puts us all in perspective. If we look a few verses before, we may have thought that we are living right - or righteously, but that isn't God's perspective. It doesn't matter what we believe of ourselves, or what other's believe of ourselves, God's perspective is that we have and do fall short...oh thank God for his mercy and forgiveness...this is why the words, repentance driven life, mean so much to me. It keeps me from thinking I have made it, I have arrived at righteousness. We can never achieve such a position. But that doesn't mean we don't let God reveal where we fall short and allow him to do sanctifying work in us...It just means that the process will not stop as long as we live.

No one person in this world who walks upright and is human is free of sin. We are all under the curse. As a christian I know better now. Therefore I have no excuse when I sin openly.

Puts to rest the so-called “Dual Covenant” theory, which teaches that there is no need for the Jew to find their salvation through Jesus Christ.
