Chapter 4 Wisdom Is Supreme 1Listen, my sons, to a father's instruction;pay attention and gain understanding. 2I give you sound learning, 3When I was a boy in my father's house, 4he taught me and said, 5Get wisdom, get understanding; 6Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; 7Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. 8Esteem her, and she will exalt you; 9She will set a garland of grace on your head 10Listen, my son, accept what I say, 11I guide you in the way of wisdom 12When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; 13Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; 14Do not set foot on the path of the wicked 15Avoid it, do not travel on it; 16For they cannot sleep till they do evil; 17They eat the bread of wickedness 18The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, 19But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; 20My son, pay attention to what I say; 21Do not let them out of your sight, 22for they are life to those who find them 23Above all else, guard your heart,and health to a man's whole body. for it is the wellspring of life. 24Put away perversity from your mouth; 25Let your eyes look straight ahead, 26Make levelOr Consider the paths for your feet 27Do not swerve to the right or the left; |
