More Than Conquerors 28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all–how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died–more than that, who was raised to life–is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?36As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

What shall we say to God's love poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit whom He has given us? This is the love that, Paul tells us, was pledged to us before creation came to be (v.30; see also Eph. 2). This is the love that will see us through all sorts of trials and suffering and make us more like Jesus (vv.26-29). This is the love that brought Christ our Lord to the Cross with joy in offering up Himself to ransom our souls from sin, death, and hell (vv.1-4). Indeed the Cross is God's ultimate sign of His unfailing love, in that He would not let our deserved ruin, misery and destruction go on forever (1 Jn. 3:16). In Israel He chose a people to be *with*, and through Israel brought forth a Savior who is Immanuel, *God with us*. If God is for us in all of these things, who can be against us? We must accept His word of promise, understand His purpose revealed in His word, and we must pray for spiritual insight into this unfailing love of God so that we can understand in Spirit and Truth (Eph. 3:14-19). For we will produce greater and greater fruit for God the deeper our hearts and minds dig into this central Gospel truth -- for it is not something that can be moved beyond. Instead, we must continue to grow in this understanding until we see Him face to face and are caught up in His fullness.

Nothing can stand against our god. We will have adversaries but none are to big or great for my God.

In my opinion this is not saying anything about how God will deal with our adversaries. It is really about how we will be able to deal with our adversaries in light of having let God in. It's all about perspective. When you open yourself up to God, everything else pales.
The goal then is not to abandon this world, but to take that perspective and engage positively, wholesomely, enthusiastically in making this world a better place.
