Thanks for Their Gifts 10I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it.11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.13I can do everything through him who gives me strength. 14Yet it was good of you to share in my troubles.15Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;16for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid again and again when I was in need.17Not that I am looking for a gift, but I am looking for what may be credited to your account.18I have received full payment and even more; I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God.19And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.20To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Are you having trouble overcoming your flesh (the nature of man without the Holy Spirit), addictions & emotional issues? I have a few suggestions that will ensure your victory, from a Scriptural perspective:
1) Believe the Bible as God’s definite, unchanging & inspired word.
2) Don’t look to your own or other men’s reasoning (example: psychology), Proverbs 3:5-8 & 16:2-3.
3) Stay away from temptations by cutting them off & out of your lifestyle because you can, Matthew 5:27-30, Philippians 4:13 & Hebrews 12:1-3.
4) Exercise your body, it gives you a sense of well-being, 1 Timothy 4:8-9.
5) Read out loud & to yourself Scriptures every day, plus any other time you may need to throughout the day when you get weak in the spirit of your mind, 1 Timothy 4:15-16. (A list of suggested Scriptures is below, using the Amplified Bible translation that you can start with.)
6) Be accountable to a spiritual believer that the Lord has in your life (Parent, spouse, Pastor, friend, sibling), Galatians 6:1-9.
7) Put on the garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness, Isaiah 61:3 (Read my notes in eBible.com on verse 3) & Ephesians 5:17-20.
8) Pray both in the Spirit and in your understanding constantly, 1 Corinthians 14:14-15, 17-18; Ephesians 6:18; 1 Thessalonians 5:14-24; Jude 20-21.
