6Then God said, “Let there be Or a firmamentan Is 40:22; Jer 10:12; 2 Pet 3:5expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters.”7God made the Or firmamentexpanse, and separated Job 38:8-11the waters which were below the Or firmamentexpanse from the waters Ps 148:4which were above the Or firmamentexpanse; and it was so.8God called the Or firmamentexpanse heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, a second day.

9Then God said, “Ps 104:6-9; Jer 5:22; 2 Pet 3:5Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let Ps 24:1, 2; 95:5the dry land appear”; and it was so.10God called the dry land earth, and the Ps 33:7; 95:5; 146:6gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good.11Then God said, “Let the earth sprout Or grassPs 65:9-13; 104:14; Heb 6:7vegetation, Or herbsplants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after Lit itstheir kind Lit in which is its seedwith seed in them”; and it was so.12The earth brought forth Or grassvegetation, Or herbsplants yielding seed after Lit itstheir kind, and trees bearing fruit Lit in which is its seedwith seed in them, after Lit itstheir kind; and God saw that it was good.13There was evening and there was morning, a third day.

14Then God said, “Let there be Or luminaries, light-bearersPs 74:16; 136:7lights in the Or firmamentPs 19:1; 150:1expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for Jer 10:2signs and for Ps 104:19seasons and for days and years;15and let them be for Or luminaries, light-bearerslights in the Or firmamentexpanse of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so.16God made the two Or luminaries, light-bearersgreat lights, the Ps 136:8, 9greater Or luminary, light-bearerlight Lit for the dominion ofto govern the day, and the lesser Or luminary, light-bearerlight Lit for the dominion ofto govern the night; He made Job 38:7; Ps 8:3; Is 40:26the stars also.17Jer 33:20, 25God placed them in the Or firmamentexpanse of the heavens to give light on the earth,18and Lit for the dominion ofto Jer 31:35govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.19There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

20Then God said, “Let the waters Or swarmteem with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth Lit on the face ofin the open Or firmamentexpanse of the heavens.”21God created Ps 104:25-28the great sea monsters and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind; and God saw that it was good.22God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.”23There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day.

26Then God said, “Let Gen 3:22; 11:7Us make Gen 5:1; 9:6; 1 Cor 11:7; Eph 4:24; James 3:9man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them Ps 8:6-8rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the Lit heavenssky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”27God created man Gen 5:1f; 1 Cor 11:7; Eph 4:24; Col 3:10in His own image, in the image of God He created him; Matt 19:4; Mark 10:6male and female He created them.28God blessed them; and God said to them, “Gen 9:1, 7; Lev 26:9; Ps 127:3, 5Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the Lit heavenssky and over every living thing that Or creepsmoves on the earth.”29Then God said, “Behold, Ps 104:14; 136:25I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the Lit face ofsurface of all the earth, and every tree Lit in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seedwhich has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;30and Ps 145:15, 16; 147:9to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the Lit heavenssky and to every thing that Or creepsmoves on the earth Lit in which is a living soulwhich has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.31God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very Ps 104:24, 28; 119:68; 1 Tim 4:4good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
