Adultery
27“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’Exodus 20:1428But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
29If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

It is unthinkable that a man would rip out his own eye. The intent of this command is that we make it equally unthinkable to lust after a woman.

I think the more literally we take these passages the closer to the truth we become. This applies even in this life... the ramifications of sexual sin are considerable, as seen in 1 Cor. 6, namely: "Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin[4] a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body." and even Matt 5: "everyone who divorces his wife, except on the ground of sexual immorality,..." Sexual immorality will be devastating in this world and the next.. what is a body part compared to all that?
