Salt and Light

13“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

14“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

No one will listen to you about anything unless you say it with "flavor", "seal", "zest". We must make it appeal to them, make it fit their life. If it is boring or dead...they won't listen. Our words will be cast out, trodden under foot, useless to them who need the word. We need to be a good and savory salt block.

We are the Salt and Light of the earth and must strive to be as Christ like as possible so others may see Christ in us, so that we may have an impact on all who see or hear us.

Salt is a preservative, adds flavor, has a healing influence. Salt is often produced through heat (dehydration). These are all the things that Christians should be.
