Chapter 9 Job 1Then Job replied:2“Indeed, I know that this is true. 3Though one wished to dispute with him, 4His wisdom is profound, his power is vast. 5He moves mountains without their knowing it 6He shakes the earth from its place 7He speaks to the sun and it does not shine; 8He alone stretches out the heavens 9He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, 10He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, 11When he passes me, I cannot see him; 12If he snatches away, who can stop him? 13God does not restrain his anger; 14“How then can I dispute with him? 15Though I were innocent, I could not answer him; 16Even if I summoned him and he responded, 17He would crush me with a storm 18He would not let me regain my breath 19If it is a matter of strength, he is mighty! 20Even if I were innocent, my mouth would condemn me; 21“Although I am blameless, 22It is all the same; that is why I say, 23When a scourge brings sudden death, 24When a land falls into the hands of the wicked, 25“My days are swifter than a runner; 26They skim past like boats of papyrus, they fly away without a glimpse of joy. like eagles swooping down on their prey. 27If I say, ‘I will forget my complaint, 28I still dread all my sufferings, 29Since I am already found guilty, 30Even if I washed myself with soapOr snow 31you would plunge me into a slime pit 32“He is not a man like me that I might answer him, 33If only there were someone to arbitrate between us, 34someone to remove God's rod from me, 35Then I would speak up without fear of him, Chapter 10 1“I loathe my very life;therefore I will give free rein to my complaint and speak out in the bitterness of my soul. 2I will say to God: Do not condemn me, 3Does it please you to oppress me, 4Do you have eyes of flesh? 5Are your days like those of a mortal 6that you must search out my faults 7though you know that I am not guilty 8“Your hands shaped me and made me. 9Remember that you molded me like clay. 10Did you not pour me out like milk 11clothe me with skin and flesh 12You gave me life and showed me kindness, 13“But this is what you concealed in your heart, 14If I sinned, you would be watching me 15If I am guilty—woe to me! 16If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion 17You bring new witnesses against me 18“Why then did you bring me out of the womb? 19If only I had never come into being, 20Are not my few days almost over? 21before I go to the place of no return, 22to the land of deepest night,
