The Ministry of Reconciliation 11Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.12We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.13For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.14For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;15and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.16From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer.17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 18All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation;19that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.20Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.21For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.Chapter 6 1Working together with him, then, we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.2For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.”
Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.3We put no obstacle in anyone's way, so that no fault may be found with our ministry,4but as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: by great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities,5beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger;6by purity, knowledge, patience, kindness, the Holy Spirit, genuine love;7by truthful speech, and the power of God; with the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and for the left;8through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true;9as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as punished, and yet not killed;10as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything.11We have spoken freely to you, Corinthians; our heart is wide open.12You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted in your own affections.13In return (I speak as to children) widen your hearts also.

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ! Those who are baptized in Him are a new creation. Your former self is gone. You are a new creation with a new set of thinking!

He makes us sensitive to things, we never thought of before!
Vs. 17-20 There are believers who reason that because they are not preachers or missionaries, they are not responsibile to take the gospel to unbelievers! However, these verses reveal the responsibility of every Christian!

Justification is for the approval of man. Repentance is for the approval of God.

Therefore if any man is in Christ, he is a new kind of person, he is uncommon, his behavior has changed, he is established upon a firm foundation, his priorities have changed, he no longer lives for himself, but for Christ, the old man being subdued; observe, many things about him are different. See previous two passages to uderstand this passage correctly. Those who have converted are those who have entered into the kingdom of Heaven which was established here on earth. They have entered into Christ. But as Jesus said in John 3:3 & 5, they must first be born again before they can enter in, and then only if they also convert.

It is difficult on some level for all christians to give up the things we love to do, the music we love to listen to, and all the other things we love that are not of God, but we have to. In order to please the God and do his will, we must obey, "...all things are become new."

The first verse I memorized in my adult life. The foundational truth is something I often take for granted.

when you become a Christian you become a new creature. ...
when you become a Christian, you are born again, born of the Spirit, you should no longer want the things of the flesh, of this world you should want things of the Spirit. we have to walk with the Lord and grow in the Lord; when you become a Christian, your old habits and ways should be a thing of the past, and you should want to have new habits and ways about you. new friends; your old friends, unless they are Christians will more than likely drag you back down to their level with no change in your life. unless you can convert your old friends who are not Christians, you need to leave them alone and make you some new Christian friends. but you need to try to convert your old friends if there is any way possible for you to. you don't want to spend the rest of eternity knowing that they won't be in Heaven, too. ... etc. (that they will be in hell.)
