Walking in the Light
5This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.6If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.
8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

This verse tells us that when we look at someone else's sin and try to convict them and act like we don't sin, "the truth is not in us" (meaning God is not in us and it is wrong to convict others). We all have one judge and that is God and we all have to face him one day.

Sin is in us all. Even born again we still live under the curse until our redemption.

If we claim not to have sin, we walk in darkness and not in fellowship with God for he is the light. We lie and decieve ourselves and make God out to be a liar and His word is not in us. Therefore we have no right to convict others.

We are all sinful and deserve death

If are living in opposition to the clear teaching of scripture but say it's OK, we've become a victim of our own lies. This is evidence that we are outside of Gods will.

Deception keeps us from seeing the truth that God needs us to see. Satan is the author of deception, but the good news is: God forgives.
